If – you are – like most of the young people out there, feeling lost in your life, don’t know what to do next, where is life going to take you, have no sense of life purposes (yet), trying to find hopelessly the answer for the question ‘what’s your life goal?’ , the solution for you is very simple ‘TRY SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY‘.
Surely, you’re not alone, even matured people, with years of experience, with super clear life goals and life path – feel lost from time to time.

How far will you go? What’s your life goal?
Takes your life as climbing up a staircases and your life goal is on the top floor, yet everyday, you’ll have to take a step – it’s daunting, it’s repetitive. Supposedly, you’ll achieve your life goal at 40-ish, for 22 beginning years of your life, your family has been pushing you, helping you. The next 20 years is you on your own, everyday is a step – then it’ll take 5,300 steps to get there – top of your life, your life goal. Remember, it only takes about 3-5 days to climb up Fansipan mountain. Multiply it by 1,060 – you’ll get your target of your life.
It’s 1,060 times Fansipan height for God sake! that’s how hard achieving your life time will be.
No wonder everyone gets tired, gets bored, gets confused, especially when you’re just started – but it doesn’t have to be that way always.
You can choose how you go through your day.
Each step actually is not the same. Each step has different colors and you can choose the color to step on. Could be a bright one, could be a dumb one – your choice, your call.
So just do this if you don’t know yet what to do next: TRY SOMETHING NEW EVERYDAY.
It’s simple. You can try different route to go home today, take a short cut, take a longer one, stop by a shop that you saw yesterday, see if they’re selling something you need.
Talk to someone in the elevator – I did that this morning, the guy from TV station, once was famous, asked him what’s he doing now, why he’s not showing on the screen anymore, and it felt good afterwards – not because of the conversation, not because I talked to him – it just I tried something new, something I’ve always wanted to do ever since I saw him in the apartment building.
Listen to a new album, not of your style, maybe a link your friend shared on facebook, YouTube.
And hey, it doesn’t have to be legal either :D, trust me, if you are reading this, you don’t want to care about society rules and judgments – it’s already in your everyday routine, so break away from it. Cross the red light (calculated risk, of course) for example. Or if you’ve never tried 80km/h, try it! I did 111km/h with my motorbike; 130km/h with my car and will try further if I can afford a better car in the future :p

Get your limit break!
Try a new coffee shop, new bar – the one you might heard a lot about, it could be expensive but hey in this so called ‘try something new’ program, the least thing you have to worry about is money. Things you try will be very different in price range and in general it won’t cost you much.
Take a cyclo tour, you might spent a lot of time wandering the Old Quarter (Phố Cổ) with your bike, but have you tried a cyclo? or the new thing called ‘green-electric-car’? Try it.
Go swimming in a pool you’ve never been to – can try the river though (not Kim Nguu or To Lich, of course :p).
Get angry with someone, maybe or boss, your colleague – the one who has been annoying for so long but you didn’t have courage to get angry, or simply because you’re trying to be nice.
Call your long-distance relative, give a surprise, buy a gift and give it to the least expected person you can think of; hug someone, talk to someone about your childhood dream; come to work earliest; be the last person to leave workplace; drink a new wine; go shopping over your long-timed maximum budget; go to old stuff market; get in your dream car, test drive it (just pretend that you’re going to buy it); stop by a small corner, talk to someone old like 70ish or 80ish; draw a painting for yourself; sing along out loud when your favorite song is played on TV, radio or on the street; be naughty, swear to someone (you hate, of course); have sex if you’re over 18, do it in a new place if you’re married or in a relationship; fix something in your house; try a new recipe; talk to the most scary looking guy on the street; talk to a random cutie baby; buy a random book, read it, share it…
There are tons of new things that can be tried and done in one-single-day, it’s easy, it’s random, it’s new, it makes your day beautiful and colorful.
Several things you need to remember though, this is a ‘try’ thing – you could fail, it could end up the way you don’t like it, but what matters is you’ve done something new. Another thing is you need to plan for that new thing, it could be wandering in your head for several days since you saw that opportunity, it could be a five-minute-light-bulb-idea, it could be presented by your friend but you need to plan it ahead. Your friend asking you to go to a new coffee shop, say to yourself ‘I’m gonna try some thing very different this time from the menu’ – then do it – then you’ll feel good about your choice.
Critical when you try something new: it’s a new way of going through your day, it’s the colour you choose to step on, to go forwards, it’s not a new path, new way, you could stray off but don’t take it too far that you cannot get back from what you’re doing – it’s another decision to make.
If you try something new everyday, it’ll get you to where you really want to be in life. Because if you haven’t got your life goal yet, it’ll show you what you’re excited the most about, what you’re passionate about, it’ll get you your sense of life. If you already know what your life goal is, it’ll get you through your ups and downs in life, fill you with energy to keep go on, to get your goal.
Make a list and TRY SOMETHING NEW everyday ;)
